Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce will hold their annual Legislative Breakfast

The Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce will hold their annual Legislative Breakfast on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 42 Century Drive, Bristol. All State Senators and Representatives covering the Central Connecticut region including the towns covered by the Chamber, Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, Plymouth, and Wolcott, were invited to attend as well as the General Assembly leadership.

Our Legislative Action Committee, Chaired by Paul S. Lavoie, General Manager of Carey Manufacturing and Kurt Barwis, President and CEO of Bristol Hospital, work closely with our elected officials to represent the needs and concerns of the Central Connecticut business Community. We monitor important bills and review the impact with our business leaders. 2019 will be an important legislative session and we are taking a proactive approach to educating our members.

This year we are adding special presentation about “The Business Impact of Legalizing Marijuana” by John Daviau, Project Director Prevention Training and Technical Assistance Service Center.

Additionally, the legislative panelists will address the Chambers’ key legislative issues for the upcoming session, which are:

1. Increasing the minimum wage to $15/hour.
2. Legalizing marijuana
3. Implementation of Tolls
4. Paid Family and Medical Leave
5. Workforce development initiatives

After the discussion of these issues, there will be a brief period for questions from the audience.

Price to attend is $30 for Chamber members or $35 for non-members. For more information or to register, please visit www.CentralCTChambers.org, email Info@CentralCTChambers.org or call (860) 584-4718.
